Don't get me wrong. I do like hummus and I LOVE chickpeas, but maybe garbanzo beans need to chill out and let other dips have the spotlight for a moment. ⠀ ⠀ This black bean and yogurt (plant-based or not) is delicious! It's low fat, high fiber, high protein, and is delicious with veggies and of course chips. The full details of the recipe and nutrition is in the post on the blog. Link is in the bio. 😁 ⠀ Blend all ingredients together⠀ - 1 can black beans, no salt added OR 1 3/4 cup cooked black beans⠀ - 1/4 cup unsweetened low fat or fat free yogurt (plant based or not)⠀ - 1 teaspoon ground cumin⠀ - 1 garlic clove⠀ - 1/2 cup fresh cilantro⠀ - 2 tablespoons lime juice⠀ - salt and pepper if desired⠀ ⠀ I've used this as a simple, easy, no-fuss lunch meal prep with fresh vegetables and crackers. ⠀ ⠀ Now, my question for you is cilantro, Yes or No? People either love it or can't stand it. I'd like to know your opinion! Happy Friyay!⠀ ⠀ #recipe #healthyrecipe #lowfatrecipe #highfiberrecipe #plantbased #dip #beandip #food #yum #healthyappetizerrecipe #yogurt #blackbeans #vegan #vegetarian #easyrecipe #snack #healthysnack #healthylunch #healthy #nutritious #wholefood #dairyfree #friyay #fridayfoodie #adifferentbeet #differentbeetnutrition
How do you feel about flavored sparkling water? ⠀ ⠀ I'm not talking about the 0 calorie artificial sweetener flavored water. That's another topic. This is the flavored unsweetened sparkling or seltzer waters. ⠀ ⠀ There is the good and the bad, but no ugly. ⠀ ⠀ 👎The bad is that anything less than a pH of 4 is acidic enough that it can harm the enamel of our teeth. Regular carbonated water (no flavors) is at a pH of 5. You add in the flavors and it's around a pH of 3. Having one here and there is not a problem, it's the over consumption of them and having it all the time in your mouth. Like coffee, you want to make sure your mouth isn't dosed in it all day long. ⠀ ⠀ 👍It is a better alternative to sodas and artificially sweetened beverages. If it helps keep you on your goal of decreasing your added sugars, or able to cut out "junk" foods and drinks, then it's a great substitute for a while. ⠀ ⠀ 👍That being said, unflavored sparkling water you are good to go! It's pH is high enough at 5 that it will not damage your teeth. So if you absolutely need something fizzy but are worried about your teeth, start drinking unflavored sparking water. Also, unflavored carbonated water has not shown to dehydrate you. So no worries there either!⠀ ⠀ ⠀ And yes - this is one of my new favorite flavors I've found. I'm not a fan of "natural flavors" whatever those may be, 🤔but here and there, it's perfect for my lunch and a different flavor!⠀ ⠀ #sparklingwater #thegood #thebad #seltzerwater #thirstythursday #polarwater #alternative #healthyalternative #health #healthy #drink #dentalhealth #betteroption #adifferentbeet #differentbeetnutrition
New post! Know Your Ingredients: The Many Names of Wheat.⠀ ⠀ Link to the blog is in my bio. ⠀ ⠀ There are many reasons why people search for wheat or things that wheat can be included in, in the ingredient list. More and more things are being labeled gluten free for those with a gluten sensitivity or if they have Celiac Disease. But then you have those with a wheat allergy, or those who are sensitive to grains. Although gluten is not just specifically in wheat ingredients.⠀ ⠀ Just like with my other two posts about knowing your ingredients with corn and soy, wheat can be a part of many different ingredients and is widespread.⠀ ⠀ It's important to know for your health and it's important to know what you are reading if you are reading ingredient labels and what that might include. ⠀ ⠀ Do you watch out for wheat in ingredients and for what purpose? ⠀ ⠀ #wheat #wheatallergy #wheatsensitivity #glutensensitivity #celiacdisease #cd #glutenallergy #gluten #knowyourlabels #ingredientlist #ingredientlabels #readlabels #readingredients #allergy #foodallergy #foodsensitivity #diet #allergydiet #health #healthy #grains #grain #nutrition #wednesdaywidsom #wisdomwednesday #adifferentbeet #differentbeetnutrition ⠀ ⠀
My snack of choice right now!⠀ ⠀ I have been craving clementines and oranges the last few weeks and have been eating them like crazy! I'm so happy to have these little guys on the counter ready to go!⠀ ⠀ Do you keep a fruit bowl on the counter to see? ⠀ ⠀ I know it has helped me when wanting a snack I'll see a clementine, banana, apples, cherry tomatoes, etc. It doesn't always work when I'm wanting a snack. Chocolate does win a lot of the times. But there are moments it does work. Plus it keeps fresh and vibrant colors in your kitchen! 👍⠀ ⠀ Do you have any tricks to keep you focused on eating healthy?⠀ ⠀ Photo Cred: Charles on Unsplash⠀ ⠀ #snack #clementine #vitaminc #health #healthy #healthyfood #healthysnack #yum #food #cravings #nutrition #tipsandtricks #tip #tuesdaytip #tiptuesday #nutritionconsultant #wellnessconsultant #nutrition #wellness #consultant #adifferentbeet #differentbeetnutrition
New Recipe Post! Link to the blog is in my bio. ⠀ ⠀ Tired of plain brown rice as a side and wanting to change the flavor here and there? Check out this recipe!⠀ ⠀ I love using fire roasted tomatoes in pasta and chili, and now it's time for rice. It adds a different flavor. And although I stay away from dairy on average because of a dairy allergy, feta is one of those things I have once and a while, and it's delicious in this rice!⠀ ⠀ A #dairyfree option would be to use either your dairy free cheese crumbles, like broken up cashew cheese, or by using nutritional yeast to add a cheesy flavor. ⠀ ⠀ In the post I also talk about some tips when buying canned food since canned tomatoes are usually one of the main canned foods I'll buy. ⠀ ⠀ Happy Friyay!⠀ ⠀ #friyay #happyfriyay #friday #foodiefriday #recipe #healthyrecipe #vegetarian #dairyfreeoption #brownrice #fetacheese #recipeblog #healthblog #nutrition #nutritionblog #sidedish #healthyside #wholefood #easyrecipe #yum #food #foodphotography #dish #adifferentbeet #differentbeetnutrition⠀ ⠀ ⠀
To follow up with my previous post about low-calorie diets, I wanted to share how to do it in a healthy way. ⠀ ⠀ The first thing I wanted to say, is a healthy weight loss momentum is loosing 1-2 lbs. a week. It might not seem like a lot, but think of what a pound of butter looks like. 1 pound is more than you might think. Losing 1-2 lbs. a week also ensures your body is adjusting and you'll be able to maintain in keeping off the excess weight. ⠀ ⠀ How Many Calories is a Calorie Deficit for Me?⠀ ⠀ The Rule Of 10. A good guess without calculations to start off would be for example: You are 180 lbs., to loose 10 lbs in 5-10 weeks, eat 1800 calories. That is without factoring exercise. Then, when you are at 170 lbs, your healthy calorie deficit would be 1700 and so on. But NEVER going below 1000-1200 calories a day, on average.⠀ ⠀ Nutrient Needs: When you are doing a healthy calorie deficit for weight loss, it can be hard to get all the servings and all the nutrients you may need throughout the day. A multi-vitamin every day is a MUST. ⠀ ⠀ Are you on a calorie deficit diet? Are there some tips you might like to share?⠀ . . .
